I am researching the role of atmospheric dynamics in past, present and future climate using global coupled climate models. Understanding ocean-atmosphere interaction and global teleconnections in past warm climates can shed light on the behavior of the global atmosphere in a warming future, and will help us interpret the results of future projections. My specific research focuses are El Nino-Southern Oscillation, dynamics of the jet streams, the mid-Pliocene Warm Period, paleoclimate - future climate analogy.

My educational background is in engineering. I have a great interest in bigger themes such as sustainability and circularity in areas such as economics, politics and food. I think that as a scientist, I also have a role to not only inform my colleagues, but also the public at large. I have experience with speaking and writing about populair science (mainly climate related) and am active in climate activism.
